Nurel expands its biopolymers production plant - Bio-based News -

We are pleased to inform you that NUREL strengthens its commitment towards sustainability by expanding production capacity at our Biopolymers site. NUREL started its bioplastics industrial project in 2015 with a first facilities investment with the most advanced and unique technology after an ambitious R&D program started in 2010.

After receiving a widespread acceptance by the European and overseas markets, in 2018 a second biopolymer production plant was installed at our premises that served to increase volume and to complete the INZEA product range.

INZEA bioplastics are bio-based, biodegradable and compostable materials and are the materials of choice for shopping bags, food packaging, single-use utensils or agricultural films manufacture. INZEA is the sustainable solution that the plastics industry needs.

With the firm intention of continuing to innovate and to offer the industry sustainable plastic materials, NUREL has just installed a third production plant that will help to fulfil the strong demand that this type of products have in the Latin American markets. The new plant will strengthen NUREL’s position in the bioplastics market, making its facilities one of the largest in Europe. From now on, NUREL Biopolymers has a production capacity of 26,000 tons per year.

All this investments are aimed to strengthening the biopolymers division in NUREL and are included in a much more ambitious investment plan that the SAMCA Group plans to carry out in NUREL.
